Maynooth Kilcock Lions directly assisted in the provision of Sheltered Housing for Vulnerable People in North Kildare.
Initially 6 houses and a Day Care centre for Maynooth, 6 houses in Celbridge and 3 in Clane were provided.
Following the success of the project, a further six houses were added. Many Lions members gave their time and skills to the work including two accountants, an architect and a solicitor.
Apart from the various State grants and funds raised from the National Lottery and People in Need telethon, all the club members became involved in raising money. The result was the provision of among the finest sheltered accommodation provided in the country.
The Lions Club remain actively involved in running and managing the complex.
